Anti T.B. Unit at Wagga 8 February 1949 The Tumut and Adelong Times |
Efforts to have Tumut visited.
The Anti-Tuberculosis Association's
Mass Radiography Unit is in Wagga until February 22. An effort has been made by the
Health Officer of the Tumut Shire Council, Mr. J. Lockeridge, to have this unit visit Tumut, Adelong and
Batlow in the near future, but it appears that this district will
be served at some later date. Prior to the Unit's visit to Gundagai
last year, Mr. Lockeridge tried to have Tumut
included in the tour. The Association's last letter to the Council's
Health Officer is published herewith:- "I am in receipt of your letter
of January 24, and whilst I appreciate your anxiety for our Unit to
visit Tumut, I must advise you that we must necessarily plan the activities
of our Unit some six or seven months in advance. The visit to Wagga is to be
followed by a visit elsewhere, and we are committed up to June,
1949. You will recall that when I wrote
to you on July 6 last, I mentioned that we had plans to take in
Wagga and other towns in the irrigation area. Unfortunately, this tour has been delayed
for several reasons, and we are still in the process of meeting our
commitments in that regard. Yours
faithfully, T.

Association, N.S.W." |
