Land Army to be Demobilised

The Women's Land Army is to be demobilised before the end of the year.

At Batlow, one of the last centres in which the girls will operate, the official closing date has been set for December 22.     

As a tribute to the Land Army, the four "queen" candidates for this year's Apple Blossom Carnival have been selected from its ranks - Thelma Murphy, Yvonne Groves, "Happy" Waldron and Edith Burns.

Mrs. A. Lynch, State Superintendent of the Land Army, will attend the closing ceremonies and crown the Queen.
