Bitumen
Surfacing of Adelong Streets 22
October 1946 The Tumut and Adelong Times |
As the result of a complaint from the
Adelong Progress Association in connection with the dust nuisance in
the main shopping area of Adelong, Tumut Shire Council decided at its
meeting last week to endeavor to raise a loan
of £1,200 to carry out the bitumen surfacing of the main street to
the kerbside and extensions of the road portion. The Engineer, R. O. Dixon, estimated the
cost of the side sections from the Royal Hotel to the Masonic Temple at
£308 and the cost of the centre roadway only from Tumut-St. to Selwyn-St
at a further £275. Cr. Roche suggested that the plan be extended
from the end of Tumut-St. towards Wagga and to the hospital on the
Mt. Horeb Road. This would be a matter for the
Main Roads Department. |
