Work to be in hand shortly.

The Department of Main Roads informed the Tumut Shire Council at its meeting yesterday that it proposed to seal the section of State Highway No. 4 between Gil-more and Tumut as soon as possible. 

However, this section of the highway was constructed prior to the adoption of the existing design standards and it is thought desirable that the alignment be checked up prior to carrying out the work.

As the investigation is considered urgent and as Council has no engineer at present, it is proposed to make a departmental surveyor available for the work, but the Department would be glad to have Council's concurrence in the Department's proposals.

Concurrence was unanimous on motion of Crs. Burbury and Fuller.
