As was previously mentioned in our
columns, the death of the late Miss Edna Jane Sanderson occurred in
the Goulburn District Hospital on Sunday, 13th March, 1949, after a brief
illness extending over six weeks. The subject of this obituary had been
training as a mental nurse at Kenmore, Goulburn for the past twelve
months and was extremely popular with all her mates at the Kenmore
Hospital and also at Kunama, Batlow and Tumut. She was the only daughter of Mrs. E.
G. Stockwell, of Kunama, and was 18 years of
age. She was born at Wagga Wagga, her mother being a native of the Yarrangobilly and Tumut districts and her father was Mr.
Fred. Sanderson, also a native of Tumut district. The aunts
are Nellie (Mrs. J. Martin, Tumut), Miss Lizzie (Tumut), Maud (Mrs. Jack
Dunn, Yarrangobilly Caves), May
(Mrs. Charlie Dunn, of Ganmain). Messrs. Bert and
Harry Sanderson, of Newtown, are uncles. The casket was brought by train from
Goulburn to Tumut on Tuesday, 15th March. The mortuary arrangements
were in the hands of Mrs. Craig, of Goulburn, and on arrival at
Tumut was placed in All Saints' C. of E. The funeral at Tumut was
conducted by W. W. Beavan & Son after a
short service by Rev. Broadfoot. Later the remains were laid to rest in
the C. of E. portion of the new cemetery, the service being read by
Rev. S. Broadfoot, who had christened and
confirmed her. The pallbearers were Messrs. Tom Martin,
Victor Giddings, Ken Wilson, Don. McKenzie, Fred. Peel and Harry
("Pop") Peel. Floral tributes were sent by the following:-
