News of the death of Mrs. Harry Sawkins which occurred in Gloucester House, Sydney, last
Saturday morning caused a great shock to her many friends
throughout the Tumut district. A member of the Myers family, of
West Blowering, she was a popular young woman
and was well-known in this and surrounding centres. Only meagre information was available
yesterday but it is understood deceased was admitted to Nowra Hospital
early last week and when her condition did not improve she was
moved to Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney and then to Gloucester
House. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Myers, of West Blowering, were, called to her bedside
on Monday of last week. The late Mrs. Sawkins
was born 32 years ago and resided in the Blowering
district all her life until a few months ago. She married Mr. Harry Sawkins, of "Numeralla", East Blowering, where the latter successfully carried on
dairying and general farming. Two years ago he purchased
another property 'Jomaro' at West Blowering where they made their home until recently when
the two properties were sold and they moved to Nowra where another farm
was purchased. Besides the sorrowing parents and
husband, there are three young children surviving: John, Margaret and
Robert. Brothers are Messrs Leo and Colin Myers
(West Blowering) and AlexMyers
(Tumut). The heartfelt sympathy of the community
goes out to the bereaved in the sad loss they have sustained. The
funeral took place in Sydney yesterday. |
