Death of
an early Settler in N. S. W, Mrs. Anderson The Sydney
Morning Herald 21
January 1864 |
The Wynyard Times of the 11th January chronicles the death of Mrs.
Anderson, one of the oldest residents of Tumut, and relict of the late Mr. Francis
Anderson, who generally went by the soubriquet of “Father of the Tumut.” Mrs, Anderson was one of the first European females who
settled in this district, when it was almost wholly inhabited by the sable
aborigines. Between seven and eight months ago she had an attack of paralysis and
never recovered, but has lingered on amidst much pain and weakness, until
Saturday morning, when she breathed her last in the 55th year of her age. This good woman leaves behind her it large circle of mourning friends,
who respected her when alive for modest and
retiring worth. |
