Factory
Closes at Tumut 31
December 1953 The West Wyalong Advocate |
The Dyomee
factory, in O'Brien's Hall, Tumut, closed down permanently last week, after
being in operation for the past seven' years. During that period up to 42 girls
had been employed, and at the present time there are 26 girls
employed. Mr. Gus Riva has been man- ager
of the factory during the whole period of its operation. The factory has 50 machines installed.
Wages paid to employees have averaged £200 per week. The machinery will be re- moved
to a new establishment which is being set up at South Strathfield.
The present Tumut staff
have been offered jobs in
the new factory and the proposition is being considered by at least
10 of the girls. |
