High Yields from Hybrid Maize 15 June 1949 Northern Star (Lismore) |
High yields were obtained from all of the hybrid maize varieties sown in a recent
trial at Tumut. Two standard maize varieties were
sown as a check in the trial. Highest hybrid yield was 151.2 bushels
per acre, compared with the highest standard yield of 106.5 bushels
per acre. Lowest hybrid yield was 110.24
bushels, and from the standard, 73-6 bushels. As this was the first hybrid maize trial
at Tumut, results are not generally conclusive. |
