Increase
in Frozen Rabbit Exports 14

The number of frozen,
rabbits exported, from New South-Wales for the year ended June 30, 1949
was almost six times, greater than the number exported for the year
ended, June 30, 1948 the Minister for Secondary Industries Development (Mr.Dickson), said. Mr. Dickson said 6,192,702 pairs of
frozen rabbits were exported from New South Wales in 1948-49, compared
with 1,069,365 pairs in 1947-48. Mr. Dickson said there had also
been a substantial increase in exports of frozen poultry. He said 726,157 pairs of fowls, turkeys,
and ducks were exported in 1948-49, compared; with
360,053 pairs in the previous 12 months. Tamworth, Grafton, Casino, Lismore,
Dubbo, Liverpool, and Temora had become leading centres for poultry
killing and freezing, said Mr. Dickson. Rabbits freezing works had been set up
at Temora, Wagga, Tenterfield, Bourke, Young, Newcastle, Tumut, and Blacktown.
