Wagga Wagga,
Sunday - A hundred delegates attended a
conference at Tarcutta to-day to discuss the development of the
Murrumbidgee valley from Wagga to Gundagai. The conference, which was attended by
the Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Graham and Mr. W. P. Sheahan, M.L.A., decided to approve of the Government's
scheme for closer settlement of soldiers. Resolutions urging the Government to
conserve waters for irrigation purposes, and to
extend electricity facilities were carried. Mr. Graham said the Government hoped
to throw a network of electricity all over the State, and the construction of
a dam at Blowering on the Tumut River, would be a No
1 post-war work. |
