September 1951 The Land |
A new sawmill to produce pine
timber would be established at Tumut soon, the N.S.W. Minister for
Conservation (Mr. Weir) said recently. The mill would draw six to eight
million super feet of logs a year from the Red Hill, Billapaloola,
Weejasper and Jounama
State Forests, which are within 20 to 40 miles of Tumut. Log production from the forests
was expected to rise to 30,000,000 super feet a year by 1990. |
