The death occurred at his home in Capper-st., Tumut, on Thursday last of Mr.
Andrew William McMullen after a lengthy illness, in his 80th year. The late Mr. McMullen was born in Yorkshire,
England, and came to Australia in infancy with his parents. He followed the occupation of
blacksmith for many years in Wagga, Brewarrina, Narandera,
Nyngan, and other N.S.W. towns. During his residence at Wagga, where
his parents conducted an hotel, the late Mr.
McMullen married Miss Margaret Robertson, by whom he is survived. Eleven years ago deceased re-tired and
came to reside at Tumut. Besides the sorrowing widow there are three
sons and one daughter surviving, viz.: Goulburn (Tumut), Arthur (W.A),
William (Coonamble) and Eileen (Mrs. P. Gillian, of Tumut). One brother, Barney, of
Penshurst, and one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Purkis)
also survive. The funeral took place on Thursday last,
leaving from the residence for the Catholic portion of the Tumut New Cemetery.
Very Rev. Dean Sharkey officiated at
the graveside and Mr. C. W. Burt had charge of the mortuary arrangements. |
