Obituary - Mr. Cecil Loy 22 November 1949 The Tumut and Adelong Times |
Tumut friends of Mr. Cecil Loy will
regret to hear of his death which occurred at Prince Henry Hospital on
Saturday last. The late Mr. Loy took ill about two
months ago but delayed seeking medical advice. Finally he journeyed to Sydney to
consult a specialist and subsequently was admitted to hospital there. He was treated for meningitis but
his condition gradually worsened and he passed away on Saturday as
stated. Deceased was born at Tumut 45ye&rs
ago and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Loy. After his schooling he entered
the general storekeeping business of Yee Hing and
Co, with which his father had once been associated, and for the past
fifteen years he had been manager of the business, a position which he
carried out with extreme thoroughness. When he became ill the loss of
his services to the establishment was so great that the owner, Mr. W. Shai Hee, decided to sell the business. The late Mr. Loy was very popular and
was a regular attendant at dances and balls in this and surrounding
towns and country centres. One brother Bert (Tumut) and two
sisters Ruby (Mrs. Long) and Mabel (Mrs. Lucas), both of Sydney,
survive. The remains
were cremated at a Sydney crematorium yesterday |
