An old and highly-esteemed resident,
of Cootamundra, Mr. Hubert ('Bert') James Ogilvie, 67, passed, away in
the Sacred Heart Hospital yesterday morning, after, being seriously, ill
in that institution for, some weeks. The late Bert Ogilvie was born at
Tumut and lived in the Cootamundra and Coolac districts practically all his
life. At Cootamundra, in 1908, he married
Miss Margaret ('Peg') Ryan, a member of the well known district family,
and is survived by his widow and three sons, Jack (Sydney), Frank (Cootamundra),
and, Hubert (Sydney). A brother and sisters are Ernie
(Sydney), Mary (Mrs. Sommerville), Vera (Mrs.
Orr), and Netta (Mrs. Miller), all of Sydney.
One of the last of the old-time drovers,
deceased had a high I reputation amongst local agents and stock
owners for the efficiency and reliability he showed in his work. He was also noted for his genial
personality, keen sense of humor, and generous
nature. In the 1914-18 war he served with the
infantry in France. The funeral, which left the Sacred
Heart Church after a service at 11 o'clock this morning, was largely
attended by relatives and friends. |
