The death occurred at Lewisham Private
Hospital, Wagga, on Sunday last, of Mrs. Anastasia Carey, of 29 Marns Street, Wagga, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Carey was widely known in
the Riverina district, being the widow of the late Mr. Thomas Carey,
who, from about 1909 to the early 1920s owned Killimicat
station, Tumut, going then to 'Oura', Wagga and
until the time of his death, some few years ago, was recognized as one of
the best known cattle dealers in the Riverina, Monaro and North Eastern
Victoria. Mrs. Carey was formerly Miss
Quirk, sister of the late Mr. Patrick Quirk, of Bombowlee
(father of Messrs. Jack, Ted and Gerald Quirk or Tumut) and is survived
by two brothers Messrs George (Wodonga) and William Quirk (Melbourne). Her other brothers and sisters having
predeceased her. The funeral left St Paul's Catholic
Church, Coburg, (Melbourne) yesterday morning
for the family enclosure in the Fawkner cemetery. |
