As briefly announced in our last issue
the death occurred at the Home of Peace hospital, Marrickville, on
Wednesday evening last of Mrs. Hilda Gresham Hedges, daughter of Mr. G.
H. Livingstone, of Tumut, and the late Mrs. Livingstone, after an illness
extending over several months. The late Mrs. Hedges was born in Putney,
England, and came to Australia with her parents at an early age. The latter finally settled in Tumut
and deceased received her schooling at the Tumut Public school.
Later, she became an accomplished dress maker and designer. She married Mr. A. Hedges, of Sydney,
by whom she is survived, and following her marriage she made her
home in Sydney for some years. There were no children born to
the union. Three years ago the late Mrs. Hedges
visited her aunt in South Africa and whilst in that country she
secured a position as travelling companion to Lord and Lady Warwick, of
England, and travelled extensively with them to various parts of the
world and on the Continent for two years. She returned to Australia by air 14
months ago when her mother became seriously ill. Deceased contracted an illness and entered
the hospital in Sydney a short time after her return to Australia and
remained a patient until her death. Besides the sorrowing father there are
two brothers Alex and David Livingstone, of Tumut, and one sister Eva
(Mrs. V. James, of Sydney) surviving. The funeral took place on Friday last
at Woronora Crematorium, Sydney. |
