- Mrs. Sadie Moses 8
November 1949 The Tumut and Adelong Times |
As briefly mentioned in a previous issue,
the death occurred on October 15 at the home of her son Anthony, Wynyard-Street,
Tumut, of Mrs. Sadie Moses, at the advanced age of 84 years. The late Mrs. Moses was born at Btoram, Elcoura, Lebanon, where
she lived for many years after her marriage with the late Mr.
John G. Moses, who passed away in 1919. The latter and his two brothers, Albert
and Charles, had been resident in Australia in the early years of the
1880's, being located in the Cootamundra and Temora districts. Following the death of her husband
Mrs. Moses and her daughter Ivy came out to Australia twenty four
years ago to join the former's sons, George and Anthony, who had embarked
on business careers in Tumut and with whom they made their home. Deceased was of a happy disposition
with an active brain, despite her advanced years. She had been in
failing health for some time. The two sons, George (Sydney) and
Anthony (Tumut) and one daughter, Ivy, survive. The funeral left from All Saints' Church
for the C. of E. portion of the Tumut New Cemetery. Rev. N. R.
Edwards (in the absence of Rev. Broadfoot) and
Rev. Shehadie (Antioc
Orthodox Church) officiated at the graveside, whilst Messrs. W. Beavan & Son had charge of the funeral
arrangements. Relatives and friends were present
from Adelong, Harden, Temora, Gundagai, Wagga, Coolamon, Narrandera and Sydney.
