Sheep Dog's Long Trek

Mr. P. H. Lowther, butcher of Coonamble, went to Tumut before Christmas on a holiday visit to relatives. He took with him a sheep dog.  

The dog, which is five years old, was missing on Boxing Day and no trace of it could be found.     

Mr. Lowther was grieved over the apparent loss of his dog, as it was highly intelligent and a first-class worker, with a local reputation for sagacity.

The dog eventually turned up at Coonamble on January 19, having covered the 400 miles' journey in 24 days. 

The animal must have suffered a great amount of pain, as it arrived with its pads raw and bleeding.
