Tragedy at Tumut 6
February 1951 Cootamundra Herald |
Percy William Skien,
42 of Batlow, was accidentally shot in the neck while standing in
the street at Tumut yesterday. He died on the way to
Wagga Base Hospital. Mr. Skien
was standing m front of Woodbrldge's butchery, when
he suddenly fell. The bullet severed the jugular vein. It is alleged that Lionel Brown,
20, who lives in a cottage near the butchery, picked up his brother's
rifle, not knowing it was loaded, sighted it at a tree, and pulled, the
trigger. The bullet ricocheted off the tree
into Mr. Skiens neck. |
