One of Tumut's most public spirited
men of the days gone by and the State's oldest practising dentist, Mr.
Duncan Maitland, died on 19th April, aged 77 years (says the Tumut 'Times') Mr. Maitland was a native of the Tumut
district, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Maitland, of 'Bonnie
Doon,' Gilmore, and it was there that deceased was born. After graduating at the Sydney University
as a dentist he practised in Sydney for some years before setting up
in Tumut 40 years ago. |
