Thomas Boyd, a Veteran Pioneer Goes to Hay

Tumut, Monday, Thomas Boyd, aged 85 years, has been taken by Mr Richard McKay, of Tumut, to the opening celebration of the railway to Hay.

Boyd belonged to the exploring expedition led by Hovell and Hume, and he was the first white man to cross the river Murray, having swam over, followed by Hume.

Boyd is now in needy circumstances, but hale and hearty for his age.
