Tumut,
School Forest Forerunner The Tumut
& Adelong Times 4
February 1947 |
Passing to the practical aspect, Mr. de Beuzeville
suggested that the citizens of Albury seek the assistance of the Education Department,
in sowing a school forest. He cited the example of Tumut where, 24 years ago, children had
planted 23 acres of trees they had grown from seeds. Now a generation later,
the first returns, amounting to between £500 and £700, were augmenting school
funds. |
