V.C. Given Job After 4 Years On Tramp.

A man who, after four years' swag-carrying, arrived at Melbourne on Thursday and produced papers to show that he is Private John Ryan, V.C., of the 55th Battalion, A.I.F., has been offered a position as commissionaire at a city office.

Ryan's latest walking stage was from Balranald, N.S.W., and the Mildura Council gave him temporary employment.
